The Hroth Story

From Workshop to Home

In 1924, Thomas Hroth opened a small workshop in the heart of Yorkshire, driven by a simple belief: that furniture should be made to last. He began hand-building sofas for local families, each one signed and dated — a tradition we uphold to this day.

Over the decades, our workshop grew, but our principles never wavered. We source the finest hardwoods from sustainable British forests. We hand-tie every spring. We cut every pattern with the care of a tailor. What began as one man's craft has become a legacy carried forward by three generations of the Hroth family.

"We don't make furniture — we craft heirlooms."

— Thomas Hroth, Founder

Today, Hroth sofas grace homes from London to Tokyo, from Edinburgh to New York. Yet every piece still begins and ends in our Yorkshire workshop, where skilled craftspeople — some with forty years at their bench — apply techniques refined over a century.

We believe that true sustainability means building furniture so well it never needs replacing. That's why every Hroth piece carries our lifetime craftsmanship guarantee. It's not a marketing promise. It's the foundation of who we are.

Lifetime Craftsmanship Guarantee

We stand behind every piece we make — for life. Our Lifetime Craftsmanship Guarantee covers the frame, springs, and joinery of every Hroth sofa for as long as you own it. If anything fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship, we will repair or replace it without charge.

It's the oldest promise in our book, and it still means more to us than any award or accolade.
